Bergy Designs Missoula Jump Site

Dec 7, 2002

Eric Bergoust was in his hometown of Missoula, Montana to promote the Grand Opening of “The Air Bergy Jump Zone” at Snowbowl Ski Resort. The new aerial site was designed by Bergoust to be less expensive for resorts to build and maintain and to accommodate skiers and snowboarders with a wide variety of skill levels and jump-style preferences. It will also be used as an experimental site to test new developments in jump site design and construction. In conjunction with the grand opening, Bergy will speak to students at local schools, do trampoline shows and promote his sponsors through local TV, print and radio.

Dec 26, 2002 to Jan 5, 2003

Bergy made his second appearance at The Air Bergy Jump Zone for the sites first night event.  Local skiers and snowboarders performed a Big Air show along side Bergy and there was a USSA sanctioned Big Air competition under the lights of Snowbowl Ski Resort. Roughly 25 kids ages 10 to 25 hit ten different jumps of varying heights, takeoff angles, distances and angles to the landing. Beginners land on a separate landing that is half as long as the main landing hill.

March 13 to 16, 2003

Bergy will be back in town to build and test a triple kicker. If all goes well, training on the uniquely designed site will be documented with photos and video and submitted to the Federation of International Skiing with the intent of approving the site design for international competitions at the highest level as well as regional events at the lower levels.

End of March, 2003
With a lack of snow in Idaho, The US Freestyle National Championships were moved to Snowbowl where the new aerial site accommodated the same tricks that are performed at the highest level of International competition.
